How did it all start for Yehali:
Yehali was contacted by her uncle in the Sri Lankan army. He asked Yehali to send him her bio-data or portfolio as he had to select a Sri Lankan girl for an acting project in Pakistani drama Sinf-e-Aahan. From there, the Pakistani army and director Nadeem Baig got in touch with her and selected her for the role of Nathmi Perera in Sinf-e-Aahan after a brief audition. She landed in Karachi for the first time and went to Islamabad from there straight away. After staying there for a couple of days, she went to Abbottabad for the shooting of the drama.
Has Urdu been a barrier for Yehali in this acting project?
Yehali got selected after she spoke a few dialogues in Urdu in the initial audition. Earlier she had a bit of a problem with speaking and understanding Urdu but got used to it later on. Now, she can speak and understand Urdu far better. Yehali claimed that she doesn’t know how, but she never had any trouble speaking Urdu after getting guidance from the production crew and fellow actors. Yehali especially thanked Uzma (Oozi), Abdullah Malik, and the director Nadeem Malik for supporting her throughout her acting journey in this project.
First Impression of Pakistan:
At first, Yehali got a bit scared as she hadn’t been to Pakistan before. She didn’t speak Urdu before and especially, she didn’t know much about the Pakistani people. But now that she has spent a couple of months here, she has finally gotten used to this culture. Yehali thinks that hospitability is the distinction of the Pakistani people. She finds Pakistani people very hospitable. Especially, when she reached Abbottabad, she fell in love with the serenity of this city.
How was the experience of working in Pakistan and an Army project?
Yehali had a great experience working in this drama. She found the staff, the colleagues, and the Pakistani people very supportive. She found the army training a hard nut to crack. But it was the Army Salute Test that she hated the most as it was very difficult. She even cried after trying hard to do it the right way and finally got it. She liked her acting experience in Pakistan so much. The best moment of her’s in Pakistan, is the celebration of her 18 thbirthday. Yehali likes here, in Pakistan, so much that she is even willing to do more acting projects in Pakistan in the future.
